G&G Senior Patent Counsel, Atanu Das, a 2006 alumnus of Loyola Chicago School of Law, is currently a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the school, teaching courses focused on Intellectual Property Law. Students benefit from his expertise in several high tech areas of IP law. Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) to host their annual Arts & Eats for Justice benefit dinner on November 14th at the Valley Regency. Guntin & Gust extends best wishes to VLJ for an enjoyable evening and a very successful event.
Founded in 2001, Volunteer Lawyers for Justice provides legal assistance to economically-disadvantaged individuals and families in the state of New Jersey. Their mission is to aid those who cannot afford legal representation to get the help and/or tools they need to ensure that they receive fair treatment within the legal system. This not-for-profit organization relies on its 1500+ volunteer lawyers and paralegals and the financial support of corporate sponsors and the community to provide free legal services.

Ralph Trementozzi, Of Counsel at G&G, will be a panelist at the BPLA “Making Connections in Boston’s IP Community” program, hosted by The Law School Committee. The goal of the event is to provide STEM students, law students and others who are considering a career in patent law some insight into the various types of paths and work environments available with intellectual property law. Mr. Trementozzi will be a panelist on the “Practicing Patent Law” panel. After opening introductory presentations by the panelists, audience members will be invited to ask questions of the panelist regarding their careers and experiences in Patent Law. A concurrent panel entitled “Practicing TM, Copyright, IP & Related Areas of Law” is also being offered. Panel discussions will be followed by a networking reception.

Guntin & Gust helps support Pro Bono Institute through an advertising sponsorship of their annual dinner. The Institute assists law firms and in-house corporate legal departments to expand their pro bono efforts by finding new methods and resources aimed at helping individuals and groups who could not otherwise afford legal representation and services. G&G wishes Co-Chairs, David R McAtee II, Seniro EVP and General Counsel with AT&T and David G. Leitch, Global General Counsel at Bank of America well in making the evening a success.
G&G hosted an Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) event in April that addressed the importance of recognizing and overcoming personal biases and stereotypes. Atanu Das, Senior Patent Counsel at G&G, is the Chairperson for the IPLAC Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Thank you to Mr. Das and the entire committee who worked to organize and present the event.
Michelle Silverthorn of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission joined the event as a guest speaker. Attendees enjoyed her insightful Continuing Law Education presentation, “We the People: How to overcome Blind spots, Biases and Stereotypes.”
